Hotel Het Dijkje, Netherlands

Hotel Het Dijkje

Not really a Hotel, more of a Barn conversion and small camping field, with the toilet and shower block conveniently located in a detached building part way between the Camping Field and the Bunk house accommodation,

This set up is run by Joop de Jonge and is cheap but basic. The catering is very limited, and for what you get, quite expensive. Breakfast is typical basic Dutch style breakfast, boiled egg, cheese and bread, sufficient for requirements, but this basic breakfast coupled with the very limited evening meal tends to encourage one night stop overs only.

The bedrooms are small and there is no real storeage space in the actual bedrooms. The saving grace is the communal lounge/dining room, which also acts as the bar. It is big enough for 12 people to congregate and take their meals in warmth and relative comfort. The Bunk house can sleep up to 14 people and there is a caravan on the hard standing which can be pressed into service to sleep two more romantically linked people.

There are rides in the area and it does have a certain appeal having rides which are quite twisty and invariably follow a Dyke or river, however the terrain is quite flat so can be a bit predictable.

My recommendation would be for one night stop overs only, but more information can be had from: www.dijkje.nl
